Research

Research that moves care forward

Breakthroughs in imaging and cancer treatment start with well-supported research. We fund early-stage and pilot studies that struggle to find backing elsewhere — helping ideas become evidence, and evidence become better patient care.

What we fund

Turning promising ideas into evidence

The best research often stalls at the earliest stage — before there’s enough evidence to attract major funding. We back pilot and seed-stage work across imaging and oncology, giving promising ideas the first step they need to prove their potential and go on to secure larger investment.

Grants & support

Seed funding, pilot grants and project awards for early-stage studies. Placeholder categories — final funding streams to be confirmed.

Areas of focus

Imaging innovation, radiotherapy, AI & diagnostics and patient outcomes. Placeholder — priority areas to be finalised.

Real-world impact

Findings shared with the professions at the UKIO Congress, turning research into practice. Placeholder detail to follow.

Research story
In their words

From pilot grant to national study

A ROC seed grant gave [ Name ]’s team the resource to run a small pilot study — the proof-of-concept they needed but couldn’t fund from existing budgets.

The pilot’s results were strong enough to secure a major national grant, and the work is now being run across multiple centres — a direct line from a modest ROC award to research that could change practice.

“That first grant was the hardest money to find and the most important. It let us prove the idea was worth backing. Placeholder quote to be replaced with a real researcher’s words.”
